me rob n sparky went to see country artist/songwriters Gretchen Peters, Matraca Berg and Suzy Bogguss the other night in Sheffield just wanted to say that it was a really cool intimate little show with all 3 of them simply with an acoustic guitar
really cool as well to hear alot of their songs striped down and with out the over production that they have been recorded with
Standing out to me were the songs ‘you and tequila’ as I never really like the dena carter version but hearing matraca's version really made me appreciate the song a lot more. Also it was great to hear the lead singer of the Nitty Gritty Dirt band matraca’s husband perform ‘Mr. bojangles’
Only thing id say is why don’t more country artists play over here would be awesome to have them at folk festivals, so many similarities between the Sheffield show and some of the solo/singer songwriters who played at Bridgnorth and Shrewsbury to me it would make sense to put a few American artist doing the same sorrta thing on the bill for folk festivals

yeh was a really nice gig. reminded me alot of folk festival-ness. would definitely be cool to have a few people like that at some festivals over here.
i didnt know any of the songs (i think i vaguely recognised one) but enjoyed it loads anyway. i hadnt particularly realised there was such a big difference between country and bluegrass.
